Exposing NOM for Concealing Funds in Maine – Too Little Too Late? : Gay News from Gay Agenda – GayAgenda.com:
"The National Organization for Marriage (NOM), the anti-gay group headed up by Maggie “Moo” Gallagher, has been the largest financial contributor in the attempt to overturn Maine’s marriage equality law and now is attempting to conceal the sources of funding by suing the state of Maine over its campaign reporting requirements.
The state ethics commission voted on October 1 to examine closer contributions by NOM after the group was accused of circumventing Maine law by not reporting the names of many donors. The group responded with a constitutional challenge filed Wednesday in federal court in Bangor.
Unfortunately, the state’s decision to investigate the groups funding holds no practical impact to the upcoming vote on equal rights as the election will be held November 3rd and the ethics investigation won’t be completed until after the election takes place."
