The Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes bill was successfully attached as an amendment to the Defense Department Reauthorization Bill yesterday; however, the bill is heading for a veto--not because of hate crimes--but because of a controversial McCain amendment pushing the continuance of an expensive F-22 program that both President Obama and Secretary Gates want cut. Obama threatened to veto an Authorization with the F-22 money attached LONG before the Hate Crimes bill ever was. Are we setting Obama up to piss us off again? Read Bilerico's "The F-22 v.
